I recently have been into the digital side of amateur radio, especially after the purchase of an Icom ID-5100A which I have mounted in the car as my primary mobile rig. While in a QSO with another local HAM he mentioned a technology similar to DStar called AllStar.
After some reading online about this technology I decided to spin up a virtual machine containing the AllStar ACID linux distro. The VM will act as my server hub node and allow my soon to be activated home and remote nodes to communicate via IAX2 voip protocol over the internet (via my site to site VPN tunnels).
